Session Six
  • Posse forming in village below, PCs have limited time to do what they will at Nostromos fortress after having defeated its defenders.
  • Vaquil explores the roof, finding a glass skylight. Breaks it, bur for the life of him cannot see anything below, it’s just too dark and he has no light source.
  • Traf and Shirah interrogate the maiden, force her to show them where the prison cells are.
  • Harann finds set of master keys. They release Kethra, the eladrin noble that they were tasked to find, as well as a wood elf thief named Vax, and a lame dwarf from Harak Galgak.
  • The PCs set fire to the first floor of the fortress, then take the remaining three horses and make their escape back to Wetbank.
  • The following day, Turin takes the PCs to the docks, and introduces them to another senior member of the Black Daggers, a woman named Kelly Seely.
  • They talk about a rogue member of the Black Daggers, a half-orc named Lugbub Manbreaker. He’s been acting out of turn. Kelly says he needs to be “put down like the animal that he is.”
  • Turin agreed to pay the PCs 1,000 silver for doing the job.
  • Lugbub and his crew are holed up in a cheesemonger’s shop that he’s appropriated, after killing its owner for failing to pay unauthorized protection money.
  • Vax tries to get a sneak peek in the window, but is immediately noticed.
  • The rest of the party enters the shop, and a battle soon ensues.
  • After Harann goes down, Lugbug is killed and his remaining crew surrender.
  • Turin makes good on his promise and awards the PCs the 1,000 silver.
Session Five
  • Vaquil was the sole survivor from last session, and we began with his solo trek from the Burial Mound of the Olde Kings back to Wetbank.
  • There he was approached by a concerned Turin, who reminded him that the window of opportunity to rescue Kethra from Castle Ironskin was closing.
  • Turin introduced two new PCs, Traf the Goliath Barbarian, and Thamor the Elf Rogue, associates of the Black Daggers who Turin wanted to join the mission.
  • Traf promptly issued a challenge to anyone in the bar to a wrestling match. A female Drow Cleric named Shirah (another new PC) jumped at the chance, and the two fought a pitched battle. Traf was victorious, Vaquil and Thamor won some coin betting on the match, and Harann nursed the battered Shirah back to conciousness.
  • Harann then visited the Temple of Dallis, Patron God of Adventuring. She left her elf-finger necklace that had been pointing northwest with the priest, who promised to have it evaluated.
  • After a night’s rest, the group decided to make their way north, two day’s march, to try and secure Kethra’s rescue from Castle Ironskin.
  • During the first day of travel they met a secluded group of bald elves, worshipers of the Goddess Lisnara. A few of the PCs drank from the Waters of Lisnara and received temporary hit points after making a donation.
  • By nightfall of the second day of travel, they reached the site of Castle Ironskin, and first came upon a small supporting village. They met a cold reception from the village Marshall, and were ultimately denied lodging in the village.
  • They trudged onward, toward the castle.
  • Ambushed by 4 bandits, they fought against them in the woods, defeating them easily enough.
  • Reaching the castle, they found an odd configuration of watch towers and outer parapets.
  • Shirah, surrounded by Mage Armor, boldly strode toward the castle gates, and was promptly fired upon by crossbowmen in the towers, who shouted an alarm.
  • The resulting battle saw most of the PCs break down two doors to get into the towers.
  • The Rogue, Thamor, hung back, but unfortunately, the guard captain, who had stepped out of a nearby cottage with a sleepy maiden, engaged him, striking him down with two mighty war hammer blows.
  • The Goliath Traf recklessly flung himself off the tower, onto the bandits on the parapet, then flung himself off the parapet onto a bandit below, killing him.
  • Some peasants proceeded to loot the body of the fallen Thamor. Traf gave chase!
  • Traf ultimately caught the fleeing peasants, slaughtering them, and returning Thamor’s gear, but it was too late, Thamor had perished from his wounds.
  • After a lengthy battle in the towers, the bandit captain was eventually defeated, after Shiraz nearly lost her life.
Session Four
  • Gilmesh, Tyos, and Vaquil were present for this session.
  • Sil-gah, the elderly drow from the Flooded Keg approaches Tyos about joining the Enlightened Shadow, a group of drow who seek to improve the acceptance of the drow on the surface world.
  • Turin calls Vaquil into his office in the Flooded Keg, the room is decorated with many exotic blade weapons. He tells Vaquil that he and his friends are now targets of the Nostromo crime family. He also discloses that he, Turin, is a member of the Black Daggers thieves’ guild. The Black Daggers will protect Vaquil and his friends if they agree to rescue Kethra, an eladrin noble. She was kidnapped by the Nostromos and is being held in Castle Ironskin.
  • Vaquil has a dream sent to him by his archfey patron. She want him to neutralize some wizards from Grollace who have entered Wetbank and are residing in a fortified manor just outside town.
  • Tyos accompanies Sil-gah, performing, as part of the Enlightened Shadow ministrations, for four days of downtime. After much bad luck, he experiences one day of success and increases his Renown with that group.
  • The party outfits itself and then heads out, ostensibly toward Castle Ironskin two days away, but Vaquil directs them instead toward the fortified manor from his dream.
  • The party passes through the Wetbank graveyard, and the Pit of Despair, where the bodies of those too poor to pay for a funeral are thrown. They are stopped by a member of the gravediggers’ guild, who mistakes them for a group of adventurers sent to help the guild with an embarrassing problem.
  • Vaquil seeks to split from the group, but is spotted by Gilmesh who follows him into the woods, so they can relieve themselves. Tyos lets the gravedigger lead him into the gloomy, stone guildhall.
  • The guildmaster describes the problem to Tyos, someone has been robbing recent graves. They strike at sporadic sections of the graveyard, every few nights. Tyos asks to be taken the the most recently plundered grave.
  • There is he joined again by Gilmesh and a reluctant Vaquil. Investigating the grave, Tyos discovers a ripped open coffin, and an ogre fingernail.
  • Vaquil half-heartedly tracks the graverobbers’ trail, and the party follows it a day’s march north, into an area for foggy hills. It finally ends at the entrance to a burial mound of the Olde Kings.
  • Tyos eases their mule and cart into the burial mound and the party begins exploring, following the large tracks inside.
  • They wind their way through snaking passages in the rank tunnels, and the tracks lead to a dead end.
  • Just as Tyos starts to explore, they party is attacked by 4 zombies that rise up and shamble forth from the end of the darkened tunnel dead end.
  • The battle is long and hard, one of the zombies is particularly resilient, continuing to fight even after its head is nearly decapitated.
  • A swarm of scorpions descends on the combatants, downing one of the two remaining zombies, and Gilmesh finally puts down the last undead.
  • The wounded adventures make their way back out of the burial mound for a short rest.
  • They venture back in, this time taking the right passage instead of the left one. They soon come upon a large pit containing a giant spider on a web. They are also ambushed by 3 smaller giant wolf spiders, its brood.
  • One of the giant wolf spiders scuttles back to the entrance, biting and poisoning the party’s faithful mule, which collapses in pain braying, and shortly perishes.
  • They battle is deadly, and eventually Tyos is killed outright by a massive injection of poison.
  • Gilmesh remains engaged with the immobile giant spider in the web, trading attacks, while Vaquil tries to defeat the remaining giant wolf spider.
  • The giant wolf spider bites Vaquil, but his Armor of Agathys causes the spider to explode in frozen shards. Unfortunately, the poison bite takes hold and Vaquil drops to the ground.
  • Gilmsh is the last man standing, and he stubbornly continues to trade blows with the massive giant spider. In short order, he is felled by the creatures mandibles, and then killed as the spider begins to feed.
  • Vaquil manages to hang onto life – but wakes up on a pile of filthy rugs in an ogre’s den. The ogre asks him if he’s working for Delilah. Vaquil does some smooth talking, convincing the not-too-bright ogre that he is not a threat. The ogre agrees to let him live if Vaquil gives him all of this stuff. Vaquil has little choice.
  • The ogre drags an unencumbered Vaquil out of the burial mound, telling him that he’d better not agree to do any work for Delilah, that would be infringing on his job.
  • Vaquil notices that the ogre neglected to examine the party’s cart, still standing just inside the burial mound entrance. He takes a risk and re-enters the mound, retrieving some gear from the cart, then begins the long haul alone back to Wetbank. He wonders how he’ll explain the loss of his arcane focus to his patron.
Session Three
  • Harann, Atanna, and Vaquil meet up with Tyos, a secretive Drow Bard, and Gilmesh, a pretty-boy Human Paladin at the Flooded Keg.
  • The Flooded Keg is more empty than usual. The party learns it’s because another tavern, the Dancing Dwarf, is selling premium Mulekick Ale for half normal price.
  • Harann catches Flamson chatting with another adventuring group about selling his map, and confronts them. She learns that Flamson has “misplaced” part of the map, and want a couple more days to find the missing piece.
  • Harann, Atanna, Gilmesh, and Tyos gamble a few rounds. A mysterious elderly Drow man named Sil-gah wins most of the coin that game.
  • Atanna is caught cheating again and chastised by Turin, the Dwarf proprietor.
  • Just then a group of Eladrin Phoenix Knights barge in with a strange Eladrin old woman with white eyes and hair.
  • The woman uses her finger as a dowsing rod, walks in slowly, stops at Vaquil and snorts, then continues to the back of the bar, pointing at a panicky looking man, and says “that’s him”.
  • The Phoenix Knights drag the man out, leaving the Flooded Keg.
  • Tyos learns that the man was accused of burglarizing the Emerald Palace and Gardens area, where the Eladrin noble dwell.
  • Turin has a side chat with Atanna, has a job for her and her group. Rescue an Eladrin noble woman who’s being held in a castle by a rival force. They have a week or so to consider the offer.
  • Gasco gives his father’s diary to Harann, on the condition that they let him come on the next sewer expedition.
  • They set off that night, back into the sewers. An uneventful passage leads them back to the secret door.
  • Trying to open the secret door, they find it chained from the inside. At that point, Madame Gawn and her 4 bandits open the other door, trying to flank the intruders, but confront Gilmesh, Tyos, and Vaquil, who were making their way to that door.
  • Gilmesh is KO’ed three times by Madame Gawn’s magic missiles, but Tyos is able to bring him back up twice, and stabilizes the poor Paladin the third time.
  • Harann eventually makes her way around, killing Madame Gawn with magic missiles of her own.
  • The remaining 2 bandits surrender at that point, but Vaquil, wanting to get some use out of his Armor of Agathys, attacks them nonetheless, wielding two hand axes. Vaquil brutally slaughters the unarmed bandits.
  • The PCs find the hidden cache of trinkets, estimating their value to be about 200 silver.
  • Exploring through the other door, they find 9 casks of Mulekick Ale, and a ledger revealing a smuggling operation. Mulekick Ale smuggled in from Harak Galgak and sold to the Dancing Dwarf Inn.
  • The PCs also find a chamber that leads to an underground river, with a rowboat tied up.
  • They use the rowboat to get the ale casks back to the sewer entrance, eventually getting them all to the surface, where Tyos is waiting with his mule.
  • They sell the ale to Turin at the Flooded Keg (450 silver), and also negotiate for a couple months free room and board.
Session Two
  • Attana and Harann meet up with Radgar and Vaquil in Flooded Keg, recount to them their exploits in the sewers.
  • A few rounds of dragon poker are played (note – I felt that my new gambling system was a bit clunky and I’ve significantly streamlined it for next time).
  • Harann sat out the last round, and she was approached by Gasco, who expressed doubt about Attana being left alone with the sewer treasure.
  • Harann pressed to get access to Gasco’s late-father’s diary, and Gasco finally agreed to give her the diary after he receives his share of the loot.
  • PCs re-enter the sewers after paying a small bribe to two guards.
  • Reaching the secret door, they hear footsteps coming up from the way they came.
  • They spot two figures approaching, one bearing a torch, and attack.
  • They kill one of the men quickly, as the other turns to flee he’s set upon by 3 giant frogs and devoured.
  • The party dispatches the frogs, suffering serious harm in the process.
  • Retrieving one of his thrown hand axes, Radgar is struck down by a falling stone block, knocked unconscious.
  • The party carries Radgar back to the secret door room.
  • A quick encounter with a rat swarm ends with Attana killing the swarm with some rat poison.
  • Attana disables an arrow trap from the secret door and opens it.
  • They find four men armed with scimitars at a table playing cards.
  • Some quick talking keeps the men from attacking outright. One goes into a back room.
  • He emerges with a mysterious dwarf woman, whom Harann recognizes as another Favored Soul, and her thug bodyguard.
  • They exchange some brusque parlay, and wind up trading a speed potion, jar of green slime, and a nice dwarf flagon, for a much needed healing potion.
  • While this is going on, Vaquil notes the face drawn on the far wall, its eyes pointing down tot the left, and the “X” carved into a spot on the floor.
  • With Radgar back on his feet, they leave the sewers again, knowing that the object of their quest is most likely hidden in the room that’s serving as some kind of base for the dwarf woman and her followers.
Session One

• Related story of map to ancient Ateri Temple/Tomb, party didn’t have enough to buy the map.
• Related story about rat catcher’s cache of trinkets in sewer.
• Some gambling happened in the Flooded Keg.
• Gilliam and Attana cheated, Attana got caught but managed to bolt out and escape.
• Gilliam successfully scooped up the last pot, Attana got blamed.
• The party enters the “Red Bottom” district of Wetbank, drunks and prostitutes.
• They descend the sewers, but soon realize they left their lantern in the room. Alibaba has torches.
• They read the corridor to the ghoul pool, and Attana reads “Danger” in Thieves Cant. They proceed anyway.
• One ghoul confronts Gilliam. He is not surprised and it is quickly dispatched, but Alibaba loses a hand axe to the water.
• Alibaba investigates the bundle at the end of the chamber, when another ghoul claws and paralyzes her.
• The second ghoul is killed, and the party recovers nothing of value.
• They continue exploring, killing 4 giant rats.
• Shortly thereafter Gilliam successfully waves off two bouts of fever.
• They come to the Juiblex cultists’ chamber, sneaking up on them.
• Attana distracts the cultists by firing an arrow into the corner.
• Gilliam hits a cultist with his crossbow, alerting them. They frenetically charge the party.
• The cultists attack with acid slimed appendages in place of hands, and Alibaba and Harann both drop.
• The other two PCs mop up the cultists.
• Gilliam explores the chamber, discovers totally slimed quivering body, kills it.
• Discovers a bloated corpse, realizes it was a member of the Black Daggers thieves’ guild.
• Gilliam and Attana drag the two unconscious PCs out of the sewers.
